DeFi Internship (Zurich)

About the role

G-20 Group is a cross-asset trading firm headquartered in Switzerland, trading delta-one and derivatives markets globally. It is looking for a DeFi Developer & Engineer Intern to join its team in Zurich. The internship offers hands-on experience in blockchain technology, decentralized finance (DeFi) and quantitative trading, working alongside experienced engineers, quantitative researchers and traders. The role is fully office-based with no remote work, and candidates must be able to work on-site every working day.

Key responsibilities

• Support the development and improvement of trading algorithms, infrastructure and blockchain connectivity solutions.
• Research and analyse DeFi protocols, blockchain ecosystems and on-chain data to identify opportunities for innovation.
• Assist in developing, testing and deploying smart contracts and blockchain-based applications.
• Explore emerging blockchain technologies, protocols and development frameworks.
• Collaborate with engineers and traders on automated trading and market-making solutions.
• Monitor developments in DeFi protocols and cryptocurrency markets and share findings with the team.
• Take part in code reviews, debugging, testing and technical documentation.

Required profile

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics or a related technical discipline.
• Strong programming fundamentals and basic understanding of blockchain, smart contracts and DeFi.
• Familiarity with Ethereum, EVM-compatible chains or other blockchain ecosystems.
• Interest in cryptocurrency markets, algorithmic trading and fintech.
• Fluent English and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Right to work in Switzerland without company sponsorship; the role is based in Zurich.

Required skills

• Proficiency in at least one of: Python, C++, Rust, TypeScript or Solidity.
• Desirable: exposure to smart contract development, DeFi protocols, DEXs or on-chain analytics.
• Desirable: familiarity with Foundry, Hardhat or ethers.js, Git, APIs and software development best practices.
• Desirable: basic understanding of quantitative trading, market making or financial markets.
