Finance and Legal Lead (SaaS Startup)

About the role

Benetics AI, a bootstrapped, cash-flow-positive SaaS startup with more than 400 customers in over 10 countries, is hiring a person to run finance and legal while expanding across Europe and into the US. You report to the CEO and consolidate work currently split between the founders, the fiduciary and outside counsel. The office is in Zurich, on site Monday to Thursday, with flexible hours.

Key responsibilities

• Finance: monthly close, operating model, cash forecast and runway in CHF, EUR and USD; SaaS metrics such as ARR, retention, CAC and payback, cohort analysis, quote-to-cash and revenue recognition; payroll, insurance and tax.
• Legal: contract templates and redlines for order forms, MSAs, partner and supplier agreements and NDAs; GDPR, revDSG, DPAs, subprocessors and security questionnaires; insurance, employment law in Switzerland, Germany, France and the US, and the choice of ISO 27001 or SOC 2.
• Build the group: set up the US subsidiary, incorporation, intercompany agreement and transfer pricing, registered agent, state registrations, payroll and sales tax nexus, and keep the consolidation clean as entities are added.
• Choose finance and legal tools, and decide what to automate, outsource or keep in-house.

Required profile

• 5+ years in finance and in either legal or commercial contracting.
• Fluent German and English at work.
• Happy to be the first hire in the function, building the model and chasing invoices yourself with no team initially.
• Nice to have: experience setting up a foreign subsidiary, experience with SMB customers and payment collection, views on finance tools and a habit of automating routine work.

Required skills

• Hands-on accounting, payroll and tax.
• SaaS finance: subscription revenue, retention cohorts, unit economics, quote-to-cash.
• Ability to redline a SaaS contract yourself and know when to call counsel.
