Financial Controller Germany – Statutory & Compliance

About the role

Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a Financial Controller for Germany to lead statutory and compliance reporting. You will ensure the integrity of financial statements, align local and group reporting, and support strategic finance initiatives across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Own statutory financial reporting and month‑end closing in accordance with HGB and US GAAP.
• Oversee accounting and reporting outputs under US GAAP, ensuring alignment with group requirements.
• Partner with FP&A and business stakeholders to provide insightful analysis and decision support.
• Perform balance‑sheet analyses, P&L reviews, and key account reconciliations.
• Serve as primary contact for external and internal audits, ensuring compliance with statutory, SOX, and corporate policies.
• Manage tax compliance, coordinate with external advisors, and handle transfer‑pricing requirements.
• Maintain strong relationships with auditors and regulatory authorities to ensure full statutory compliance.
• Drive process improvements and strengthen internal controls and governance.
• Prepare timely statutory financial statements and disclosures.
• Provide technical accounting guidance on complex matters and lead finance‑related projects.

Required profile

• Advanced degree with at least 6 years of relevant experience, or Bachelor’s degree with at least 8 years.
• Background in corporate finance or public accounting.
• Strong knowledge of German HGB and US GAAP reporting standards.
• Experience managing statutory reporting, audits, tax compliance, and SOX controls.
• Ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams and external advisors.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Excel
• ERP systems experience (SAP, JD Edwards/E1, Oracle)
• Financial reporting tools (Hyperion, HFM, BlackLine)
