Global Category Manager – Raw Materials & Metals

About the role

We are seeking a Global Category Manager for Raw Materials and Metals to develop and execute a worldwide procurement strategy that aligns with business priorities and drives cost efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a global procurement strategy for raw materials/metals, aligned with operational priorities.
• Drive total cost of ownership improvements through cost modeling, design‑to‑cost initiatives and value engineering.
• Lead sourcing initiatives, including supplier selection, dual‑sourcing strategies and qualification processes.
• Conduct commercial negotiations covering pricing, capacity, quality and compliance.
• Continuously improve supplier performance (quality, delivery, responsiveness) and optimize sourcing effectiveness across regions.
• Identify opportunities for value analysis/value engineering and supplier‑led innovation.

Required profile

• Advanced degree (MBA or Master’s) in Supply Chain, Procurement, Engineering or related field.
• Extensive experience in global procurement, strategic sourcing or supply chain within complex, industrial environments.
• Proven track record managing global category strategies for metals or raw materials in a matrix organization.
• Strong background in cost optimisation, supplier negotiations and risk management.
• Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency with SAP procurement modules.
• Experience using Ariba or similar e‑procurement platforms.
