Staff Engineer – Pricing (Remote, Switzerland)

About the role

This is a high‑impact staff‑level engineering position focused on building and operating the pricing infrastructure for a modern energy transaction platform. You will own the backend and data‑heavy systems that price real energy contracts, where correctness directly influences financial outcomes and customer trust.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate a fast, reliable, and explainable Pricing API ready for third‑party consumption.
• Lead the extraction of pricing logic into a dedicated service, managing architectural migrations and decoupling initiatives without disrupting critical dependencies.
• Implement detection, monitoring, and alerting to ensure pricing reliability and diagnose quote failures.
• Improve pricing performance and reduce quote latency through technical optimisation.
• Act as a senior technical authority, contributing to architecture decisions, design reviews, and engineering standards.

Required profile

• Deep production experience with Python backend engineering and ownership of large‑scale APIs.
• Proven track record of leading significant architectural transformations or migrations in live systems.
• Strong product engineering judgement to balance speed, numerical correctness, reliability, cost, and explainability.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, able to influence senior engineers and stakeholders without formal authority.
