Cloud Engineer

About the role

The Azure Application Hosting team at Swiss Re is looking for a Cloud Engineer to design, build and operate a shared Kubernetes‑based platform on Azure. You will work on infrastructure‑as‑code, automation and the migration of applications to the public cloud while ensuring platform stability and operability.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and enhance a managed PaaS platform that supports secret, storage and identity management for multiple application teams.
• Automate operational processes and incident handling, participating in an on‑call rotation.
• Collaborate with developers to migrate new applications to Azure and optimise existing workloads.
• Maintain platform reliability, performance and security through continuous monitoring and improvement.
• Contribute to documentation, knowledge sharing and mentoring within the team.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience with Kubernetes and application hosting in a cloud environment.
• Strong familiarity with Microsoft Azure services and public‑cloud concepts.
• Ability to work with API and CLI interfaces for automation.
• Passion for learning new technologies and improving existing processes.
