Game Developer – Voxel-Based Engine (Java)

About the role

We are seeking a passionate Game Developer to design and evolve a custom voxel‑based engine from the ground up. Working remotely, you will join a distributed team and have significant influence over core architecture, rendering systems, and internal tooling.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and enhance core systems of a custom voxel‑based game engine.
• Implement rendering pipelines, ray casting, ray tracing, and visual features for Minecraft‑style environments.
• Work with spatial data structures, world generation, and voxel management to improve engine capabilities.
• Optimize memory usage, performance, and resource management.
• Integrate 2D, 2.5D, and 3D assets, including those created with Blender, into the engine pipeline.
• Build and maintain internal tools for asset handling, builds, packaging, and testing.
• Prototype future‑facing features such as AI capabilities and external API integrations.

Required profile

• Strong foundation in computer science concepts, data structures, algorithms, and software architecture.
• Proficiency in Java or ability to quickly learn Java within a JVM environment.
• Understanding of low‑level programming concepts, pointers/references, and memory management.
• Interest or experience with custom game engines, voxel systems, and real‑time graphics.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting while collaborating effectively with distributed teammates.
