Head of Platform Engineering

About the role

We are seeking a Head of Platform Engineering to lead the evolution of a modern platform function for a fast‑growing digital product organization based in Switzerland. You will own cloud infrastructure, developer experience, reliability, security and automation across a portfolio of SaaS products.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the platform engineering strategy, roadmap and long‑term vision.
• Partner with senior engineering leaders to improve reliability, scalability, security, automation and cloud cost efficiency.
• Assess current infrastructure, establish standards for cloud, deployment, observability and security.
• Own cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, deployment workflows and production environments.
• Build reusable self‑service capabilities that boost developer productivity.
• Strengthen security through IAM/RBAC, secrets management and vulnerability remediation.
• Enhance monitoring, logging, alerting, tracing, incident response and disaster recovery.
• Lead, mentor and grow a team of platform engineers, and support hiring as the function scales.
• Manage platform budgeting, vendor relationships and cloud cost optimisation.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and introduce automation or AI‑assisted workflows where beneficial.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an engineering leader responsible for platform or infrastructure teams.
• Strategic thinker with strong technical expertise in cloud‑native environments.
• Track record of defining standards, improving operational maturity and delivering reliable services at scale.
• Ability to mentor engineers and foster a culture of ownership.
