International Consultant – Trade and Investment Law & Policy Expert

About the role

The International Trade Centre seeks an experienced consultant to provide expert advice on trade and investment law and policy across several African projects. The consultant will work closely with the SPTI supervising officer to deliver high‑quality policy documents, stakeholder analyses, and capacity‑building materials within a defined timeline.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and submit status reports on the Creative Industries Policy, Cruise Ship Tourism Policy, and Green Public Procurement Guidelines for The Gambia (Oct 30 2026).
• Coordinate missions and stakeholder consultations in Rwanda, Tanzania, and Uganda, delivering planning records (Nov 30 2026).
• Develop a consolidated stakeholder map on e‑commerce and digital trade for the EAC (Dec 28 2026).
• Validate terms of reference and frameworks for national honey policy and EAC rules of origin in South Sudan (Jan 30 2027).
• Produce reports, action plans, and policy recommendations to strengthen the legal environment for digital trade (Feb 28 2027).
• Assess intellectual property laws relevant to digital trade in the EAC (Mar 31 2027).
• Deliver final technical inputs and validation documents for The Gambia’s Creative Industries Policy (Apr 30 2027).

Required profile

• Advanced degree in Law, International Trade, Public Policy or a related field.
• Proven experience in trade and investment law, policy analysis, and regulatory frameworks.
• Demonstrated ability to work with government agencies, NGOs, and regional bodies.
• Strong analytical, drafting, and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
