Manufacturing Engineer - Tooling (BKM)

About the role

Gas Power, a business unit of GE Vernova, is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer for its Tooling team (Betriebsmittelkonstruktion, BMK) at its production site in Birr. You will design, develop and improve the tools and fixtures that keep precision turbine manufacturing running, covering gas turbines, steam turbines and generator rotors.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the design and construction of specialized tools, measuring equipment and fixtures for gas turbines, steam turbines and generator rotors.
• Ensure the availability and on-time delivery of operating resources through internal manufacturing or external partners.
• Define and optimize tool, measurement and manufacturing concepts together with production and engineering.
• Develop machining strategies, calculate cutting parameters and maintain TDM tool lists and related master data.
• Coordinate end-to-end procurement, including quotations, cost comparisons and technical drawing reviews.
• Monitor process performance, tool consumption and costs, and initiate corrective actions and design improvements.

Required profile

• Fluent German and good written and spoken English are mandatory; work authorization in Switzerland is also mandatory (Swiss, EU/EFTA nationals or those holding a valid Swiss work permit; no sponsorship).
• Technical qualification in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering; a Swiss Higher Technical School (HF) diploma or equivalent is ideal.
• Proven experience designing production tooling, fixtures and manufacturing equipment.
• Solid knowledge of machining processes, tooling concepts and measurement strategies.
• Preferred: experience with tooling or fixture design for turbines, compressors or other large rotating equipment, and a background in procurement coordination with technical suppliers.

Required skills

• Proficiency in SAP and TDM or a comparable tool data management system.
• Strong technical understanding of fixture and tool design, independent work and collaboration with internal and external design offices.
• Organizational skills to manage several engineering projects at once, analytical thinking, clear communication and a solution-driven approach.
