Mechanical Design Engineer – Precision Instruments

About the role

As a Mechanical Design Engineer you will contribute to the development of precision instruments used for color measurement and management. You will work within cross‑functional teams to design, prototype and refine mechanical components that meet high performance and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies using CAD/PDM software.
• Create detailed 3D models, drawings and bills of materials following engineering standards.
• Collaborate with electrical, software and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration.
• Participate in design reviews, FMEA and DFM/DFA activities.
• Support prototype builds, testing and validation of new designs.
• Design custom automated calibration and assembly hardware.

Required profile

• Qualified mechanical engineering degree (e.g., B.Sc. Mechanical Engineering, MSc Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent).
• Minimum three years of experience in mechanical design or related field.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials and manufacturing processes.
• Excellent problem‑solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Fluent in German and English, both written and spoken.

Required skills

• Proficiency with 3D CAD modeling software (e.g., CREO, SolidWorks).
• Experience developing mechatronic systems.
• Knowledge of FMEA, DFM/DFA and PLM processes.
• Familiarity with precision instrumentation and optical systems.
