Programme Officer – Beyond Lab (Temporary)

About the role

The Programme Officer will support the Beyond Lab within the Office of the Director‑General at the United Nations Office at Geneva, reporting to the Chief of Section, Political Affairs. The role focuses on implementing, monitoring and evaluating programmes related to participatory policy innovation and sustainable development.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and evaluate programmes on Beyond GDP and rethinking development systems, monitoring progress and proposing corrective actions.
• Research, analyse and present information from diverse sources to support policy development linked to the 2030 Agenda and SDGs.
• Prepare written outputs such as background papers, analyses, report sections and inputs for publications.
• Provide substantive support for consultative meetings and conferences, including agenda setting and document preparation.
• Coordinate budget and funding activities, including programme preparation, progress reports and financial statements.
• Maintain regular coordination with project partners, governments, civil society and other stakeholders.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree (Master’s) in business administration, management, economics or related field; or equivalent combination of first‑level degree and experience.
• Minimum five years of progressive experience in project or programme management, with at least two years in the United Nations system preferred.
• Proven experience preparing analytical inputs, policy documents and senior‑level communications; knowledge of sustainable development and SDGs is desirable.
• Fluency in English and French (UN Level III); German is a plus.
