Senior Legal Counsel – Basel Office

About the role

Viking is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel for its Basel office to join the legal function reporting to General Counsel Allison Becker. The role will support day‑to‑day business operations, advise the executive team on a wide range of legal matters and play a key part in the company’s financing activities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice to the executive team and internal stakeholders across commercial, corporate and financing matters.
• Negotiate, draft and review contracts, ensuring commercial objectives are met while managing risk.
• Develop and implement risk‑management processes that enable business flexibility and growth.
• Support Viking’s financing transactions, including structuring and documentation.
• Act as a legal sparring partner on strategic initiatives and complex business problems.

Required profile

• Best‑in‑class law firm experience with civil and common law exposure.
• Strong commercial law background and excellent negotiation skills.
• Law degree (LL.M preferred) and bar admission.
• Corporate in‑house experience, preferably in a public company.
• Experience in shipping, travel, tourism or hospitality sectors is an asset.
• Financing experience and ability to handle complex legal‑business issues.
