VIP Seat Prototypist

About the role

This specialist creates the initial prototype versions of aircraft seats and their components, turning design concepts into functional prototypes that can be tested and refined before becoming the final luxury seating for high-end aircraft. The work takes place in hangar facilities at EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg.

Key responsibilities

• Work with designers, engineers and clients to understand the desired aesthetics, comfort and functionality of the seats
• Select and experiment with materials such as leather, fabrics and foams, shaping and combining them to meet design specifications
• Create digital templates using 3D modelling software
• Test prototypes, including comfort assessments and fit checks, and refine them to meet luxury aviation standards of comfort, durability and aesthetics
• Collaborate with designers, engineers and production staff so the prototype becomes a manufacturable product
• Identify and solve design and manufacturing challenges that arise during prototyping

Required profile

• Completed upholstery apprenticeship or equivalent certificate or diploma
• 5+ years of working experience in a similar position
• Aviation industry experience is a plus
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings, instructions and technical processes
• Good English (verbal and written); French is a plus
• Strong organisation and communication skills, flexibility and teamwork
