Legal Adviser – Contracts, Data Protection & Copyright (1‑yr Temp)

About the role

ISO is seeking a Legal Adviser to join its Central Secretariat in Geneva on a one‑year fixed‑term contract. The role focuses on contracts, data protection and copyright matters, supporting the organization’s global standards work.

Key responsibilities

• Provide advice, review, draft and negotiate a variety of contracts (e.g., SaaS, supply, consultancy and partnership agreements).
• Identify contractual risks and propose appropriate mitigation measures.
• Ensure compliance with Swiss data protection law by drafting and reviewing data processing agreements, handling data subject requests and conducting supplier due‑diligence.
• Advise on copyright issues, interpret ISO’s policy and support enforcement actions.
• Assist in preparing governance documents, develop training materials and deliver legal training to staff.
• Monitor legislative and case‑law developments that may affect ISO’s operations.

Required profile

• Extensive experience with Swiss contract, data protection and copyright law.
• Law degree; additional specialization or certification in IP law or data protection is a strong asset.
• Excellent spoken and written English with proven drafting ability; knowledge of another language is advantageous.
