Senior Counsel (Legal & Regulatory)

About the role

This senior‑level position is based in Switzerland and works fully remotely. The Senior Counsel will advise product, engineering, marketing and trust & safety teams on complex product, privacy and regulatory matters, translating global regulations into practical guidance.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal counsel to product, engineering and trust & safety on content safety, consumer protection, IP, privacy and data security.
• Offer practical product counseling across web hosting, site creation, ecommerce, social media and digital advertising.
• Serve as subject‑matter expert on GDPR, CCPA and consent requirements for digital marketing.
• Develop scalable processes for documenting and maintaining regulatory and privacy compliance.
• Monitor emerging regulations worldwide and represent the organization in industry groups and with regulators.

Required profile

• JD from a US‑accredited law school with 5+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent EU‑based attorney.
• Strong familiarity with legal issues affecting open‑source, user‑generated content, web hosting, social media, ecommerce and digital advertising.
• Experience advising on product, privacy, regulatory or online safety matters in evolving legal environments.
• Knowledge of DSA, UK/Australian Online Safety Acts, EU AI Act, GDPR, CCPA or similar frameworks.
• Ability to deliver clear, business‑oriented legal advice and work effectively in an asynchronous, distributed setting.
