Senior Hardware Security Module Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a senior engineer to lead the architecture, engineering and continuous optimisation of our Hardware Security Module (HSM) landscape at UBS Card Center. The role combines deep technical expertise with service‑orientation, ensuring security and compliance across a diverse set of HSM solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and continuously optimise the HSM environment, guaranteeing adherence to security and compliance standards.
• Automate HSM provisioning, configuration and related processes to meet demanding service‑level agreements.
• Monitor industry trends, evaluate new technologies and propose their integration where beneficial.
• Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to resolve incidents, analyse performance and drive improvements.
• Participate in an on‑call rotation as part of a four‑person HSM support team and handle access to key material.
• Support network‑related tasks such as firewall, load‑balancing and routing, working alongside specialised network engineers.

Required profile

• University degree or equivalent in Computer Science or a related field.
• Several years of experience designing and managing complex HSM projects, preferably with Thales Luna, Payshield, KeySecure/CTM or ProtectServer.
• Project‑management experience and ability to work in an agile environment.
• Business‑fluent German and English communication skills.

• Azure Key Vault.
• Network technologies: Fortigate firewalls, F5 load balancers, Cisco/Arista switching and routing.
