Lead Software Engineer - Solskin

About the role

Zurich Soft Robotics, a Zurich-based startup developing Solskin, an intelligent climate-adaptive solar facade, is hiring a Lead Software Engineer. You will own the software that runs Solskin, keep it reliable in the field and constantly improve it, and architect and lead the future sensor-to-data platform. The role sits at the intersection of software and hardware, with control and AI on top.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and develop the full software stack, from cloud and data management and user-facing applications to embedded firmware and AI controllers.
• Build the software that runs on real buildings and support the hardware team, and build internal tools for sales and the business team.
• With the CEO and CTO, set the software direction and lead development of future products.

Required profile

• MSc or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or similar.
• English; German is a big plus.
• Right to work in Switzerland; 100% availability as soon as possible.
• Hybrid setting: at least three days per week on site, sometimes at customer locations.
• Preferred: startup experience, and experience with building data, building dynamics modeling and building controllers, ideally with ML and RL tools.

Required skills

• Python (must); clean, production-ready code.
• C/C++ on microcontrollers, sensors, actuators and basic electronics.
• Applied AI and control, with hands-on PyTorch experience on physical or dynamic systems.
• PostgreSQL, Docker and AWS.
• React and TypeScript preferred.
