Compliance Officer – Crypto & FinTech (Malta)

About the role

We are looking for a Compliance Officer to join SCRYPT’s Malta entity and ensure that our crypto‑asset operations remain fully compliant with the EU MiCA framework, FATF Travel Rule, and relevant sanctions regimes. Reporting to the Head of Compliance and the Malta Director, you will act as the primary liaison with regulators, auditors and internal teams.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and continuously improve the company’s compliance programme under EU law, monitoring MiCA, FATF guidance and OFAC/SECO sanctions.
• Serve as the main contact with the MFSA, VQF, FINMA and other supervisory authorities.
• Implement AML/CFT processes, including client onboarding, due‑diligence, transaction monitoring and suspicious activity reporting.
• Lead Travel Rule compliance for VASPs and oversee custody and brokerage controls for digital assets.
• Develop internal policies for security tokens, stablecoins and cross‑border client interactions.
• Provide advice to senior management and the Board on compliance risks and mitigation strategies.
• Prepare compliance reports, internal audit material and regulatory submissions.
• Drive compliance‑related projects such as system upgrades and policy enhancements.

Required profile

• Advanced degree or certifications in law, finance or compliance (e.g., CAS, ACAMS, CFA) – preferred.
• 2–4 years of experience in compliance, legal or risk roles within financial services, fintech or crypto brokerage.
• Demonstrated knowledge of MiCA, EU regulatory frameworks and the Maltese regulatory environment.
• Familiarity with Swiss financial regulation (AMLA, FINMA, VQF) is a plus.
• Fluent English; Maltese, German or French are advantageous.
