Mechanical Design Engineer – Systems

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to develop system modifications for aircraft, focusing on Environmental Control Systems, supplemental heating, equipment cooling, cabin humidification, soundproofing, oxygen, smoke‑detection, and water/waste management. The role is based in our hangar facilities at EuroAirport Basel‑Mulhouse‑Freiburg.

Key responsibilities

• Design mechanical modifications for aircraft internal and external structures and interior furnishings.
• Produce 2D and 3D CAD drawings and select appropriate equipment, components, and materials.
• Prepare technical documentation, including reports, analyses, test procedures, and installation instructions.
• Ensure compliance with certification bases, rules, regulations, and means of compliance.
• Support the Team Leader with administrative and organisational tasks.
• Maintain effective communication with internal engineering teams and external third parties.

Required profile

• Engineering degree in Mechanical, Aeronautical, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of physics, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and aerospace materials.
• Proactive team player with excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and pay close attention to detail and safety.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Experience with 2D/3D design software, specifically AutoCAD and CATIA.
