Project Manager – Hydropower

About the role

Alpiq is seeking a Project Manager to lead the development and delivery of hydropower projects across Europe. You will apply technical, environmental and regulatory expertise from the early development phases through to commissioning after the final investment decision.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical support and conduct due diligence for hydropower project evaluations.
• Define, manage and challenge engineering, geological, environmental and permitting studies performed by external consultants.
• Establish and maintain project budgets, schedules and risk assessments, and monitor permitting, grid‑connection and regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate internal technical teams and external partners, prepare technical assessments and executive summaries for decision‑making bodies.
• After the Final Investment Decision, oversee project execution, ensuring safety, quality, schedule and cost targets are met, and manage handover to operations.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Civil Engineering (e.g., EPFL) or equivalent.
• 5–10 years of experience in technical development, engineering or delivery of hydropower or energy infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of technical, environmental and regulatory aspects of hydropower projects in Europe.
• Experience managing studies, due diligences and external service providers.
• Excellent command of English and at least one additional European language (Italian, French or German).
