Senior Hardware Buyer

About the role

Proton is seeking a Senior Hardware Buyer to lead the sourcing strategy for its compute, storage and network infrastructure. The role combines strategic planning with hands‑on procurement to ensure rapid growth, low CAPEX and high component availability.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute end‑to‑end sourcing strategies for hardware, including servers, storage arrays and networking gear.
• Negotiate contracts and volume discounts with ODMs, OEMs, white‑box suppliers and Tier‑1 semiconductor vendors.
• Maintain and grow key supplier relationships, ensuring priority access and favorable terms.
• Monitor market trends, component availability and technology evolution to anticipate risks.
• Implement procurement processes that reduce lead times while keeping complexity low.
• Collaborate with engineering, finance and operations teams to align purchasing with product road‑maps.

Required profile

• Proven experience in hardware procurement or supply‑chain management, preferably in a fast‑growing tech environment.
• Strong negotiation skills with a track record of securing favorable commercial terms.
• Ability to analyse market data and translate insights into sourcing strategies.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management capabilities.
• Self‑motivated, adaptable and comfortable working in a flat, fast‑paced organization.

Required skills

• Strategic sourcing and supplier negotiation.
• Knowledge of compute, storage and networking hardware components.
• Familiarity with ODM/OEM and white‑box supply models.
• Understanding of CAPEX budgeting and cost optimisation.
