Staff System Architect – SNSPD Systems

About the role

ID Quantique is seeking a Staff System Architect dedicated to its SNSPD product line. You will lead the technical architecture and roadmap for the next‑generation rack‑mountable superconducting nanowire single‑photon detector platform, ensuring coherence across hardware, software, and integration domains.

Key responsibilities

• Define and own the end‑to‑end system architecture, including structure, interfaces, and key design decisions.
• Drive the technology roadmap, evaluate new technologies, and guide integration of optics, photonics, electronics, mechanical/thermal, and embedded/software components.
• Align engineering execution with the architectural vision, resolve cross‑domain design challenges, and support scalable 24/7 detector operations.

Required profile

• Master’s degree (PhD preferred) in physics, electrical engineering, photonics or related field.
• 7+ years experience with complex, multi‑domain systems and proven technical leadership across multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience in domains such as space instrumentation, astronomy, high‑end microscopy, semiconductor or scientific equipment.

• Embedded systems, software integration, mechanical and thermal engineering.
• Knowledge of SNSPDs, single‑photon detection, and quantum systems.
