Academic Instructional Support (Grades 4‑8) – Part‑time

About the role

The Academic Instructional Support position provides targeted academic assistance to students in grades 4‑8 at Massillon Junior High. Working under the direction of the building principal and curriculum leaders, the specialist helps close learning gaps, supports safety monitoring, and delivers supplemental tutoring across a range of student needs.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure the safety and security of students throughout the school day.
• Deliver push‑in or pull‑out instructional services, including supplemental tutoring for English learners, low‑income students, students with disabilities, and other at‑risk groups.
• Provide substitute instructional teaching when learning loss occurs due to uncovered classrooms.
• Monitor student progress with pre‑ and post‑assessments and adjust instruction accordingly.
• Support students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) by offering instructional, behavioral, and personal assistance.
• Collaborate closely with classroom teachers to align interventions with curriculum goals.
• Maintain confidentiality of student and family information.

Required profile

• Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations, including English learners, low‑income families, students with disabilities, and homeless or foster youth.
• Strong classroom management skills to maintain a positive learning environment.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for interaction with staff, students, and parents.
