AI Engineering Intern

About the role

You will help build the next generation of autonomous flight intelligence, enabling operators to control FPV drones with natural language commands. This hands‑on internship sits at the intersection of AI, robotics, and edge computing, delivering real‑world impact for defense and aerospace missions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and optimise low‑latency AI pipelines that convert voice commands into real‑time drone actions on edge hardware.
• Benchmark and adapt Vision‑Language‑Action models for autonomous flight and FPV control.
• Build software interfaces linking edge compute platforms with FPV control links and drone communication protocols.
• Curate and fine‑tune multimodal datasets that combine voice instructions with visual FPV data in noisy, tactical environments.
• Improve inference performance and reduce latency across the full voice‑to‑action loop to ensure safe, responsive flight.
• Collaborate with AI engineers, robotics specialists, and aerospace teams to prototype and test next‑generation autonomous capabilities.
• Work directly with cutting‑edge hardware such as NVIDIA Jetson and other embedded AI systems.

Required profile

• Currently pursuing a Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong problem‑solving ability and comfort working in experimental, rapid‑iteration environments.
• Passion for turning advanced AI concepts into real hardware applications.

Required skills

• Proficiency with machine‑learning frameworks such as PyTorch or JAX.
• Familiarity with Transformers, Large Language Models, and Vision‑Language models.
• Hands‑on experience with Linux‑based embedded systems and edge AI hardware.
• Knowledge of NVIDIA Jetson or similar embedded AI platforms.
• Understanding of drone flight stacks (e.g., PX4, ArduPilot) and communication protocols like MAVLink is a plus.
