Analyst, Novartis Venture Fund

About the role

The Novartis Venture Fund invests in innovative life sciences companies developing therapies in areas of high unmet need. As an Analyst in Basel, you will turn scientific insight into investment decisions, working alongside experienced venture investors on due diligence, market and competitive analysis, investment evaluation and portfolio support. The role is hybrid and is based in Basel; relocation support is not offered.

Key responsibilities

• Support scientific and business due diligence for new and follow-on life sciences investments
• Evaluate scientific publications, business plans and emerging technologies
• Conduct competitive, market and landscape analyses across therapeutic areas
• Engage with scientific experts and key opinion leaders to test investment hypotheses
• Build financial and capital models and prepare investment memoranda, financial analyses and presentations
• Coordinate deal flow and maintain documentation across prospective and existing investments
• Support portfolio companies and collaborate with external stakeholders

Required profile

• PhD and/or MD in natural sciences, medicine or a closely related discipline
• At least two years' experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology or investment industry
• Strong scientific expertise and understanding of life sciences, drug development and emerging trends
• Experience with scientific due diligence and evaluating scientific evidence
• Excellent written and verbal communication, prioritisation and collaboration skills
• Desirable: MBA or equivalent business education and additional languages beyond fluent English

What we offer

• Base salary of 102,200 to 189,800 CHF gross per year, with a performance-based bonus and possible long-term equity awards
