Android Software Engineer

About the role

BJAK, Southeast Asia's largest digital insurance platform, is seeking an Android Software Engineer to build and evolve mobile applications that power its insurance and financial products. You will work remotely as part of a global engineering team, delivering reliable, scalable Android solutions that integrate AI‑assisted capabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain production‑grade Android applications using Kotlin.
• Create intuitive, responsive UI for insurance, payments, and customer workflows (Jetpack Compose or XML).
• Integrate backend RESTful APIs for quotations, policy management, claims, and transactions.
• Implement AI‑enabled features such as chat experiences, recommendations, and automation flows.
• Optimize performance, battery usage, and memory across a range of devices.
• Set up analytics, crash reporting, and user‑behavior tracking to improve product quality.
• Collaborate with backend, product, design, and AI/ML teams throughout the development lifecycle.
• Maintain stability, scalability, and security of production mobile systems.

Required profile

• 3+ years of Android development experience using Kotlin.
• Strong understanding of Android architecture components and modern development practices.
• Proven track record of shipping production Android applications.
• Experience with Coroutines, Flow, and asynchronous programming.
• Hands‑on experience integrating RESTful APIs and working with distributed systems.
• Familiarity with mobile performance tuning and debugging in production environments.
• Exposure to AI‑enabled mobile features (chat, recommendation, automation) is a plus.
• Published apps on Google Play Store are an advantage.
