Application Software Engineer

About the role

Harmattan AI is building next‑generation autonomous defense systems. We are looking for an Application Software Engineer to join our R&D team in Lausanne and become a founding member of a new group developing the ground control station (GCS) that powers our autonomy stack.

Key responsibilities

• Design and ship core GCS features such as flight planning, airspace awareness, and live video, balancing operator UX with technical correctness.
• Integrate tightly with the Autopilot team to ensure reliable communication between the GCS software and drone hardware.
• Participate in two‑week agile sprints, delivering high‑priority features defined by the product team.
• Own the full software lifecycle—from architecture to testing and maintenance—to produce industrial‑grade code.
• For senior candidates, mentor junior engineers as the team expands.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Physics (preferred).
• Proven track record designing and delivering complex, production‑quality software systems.
• Experience with Linux‑based development; Android experience is a plus.
• Hands‑on experience with modern application frameworks such as Dart/Flutter or C++/Qt/QML.
• Prior work on ground control stations for drones is a strong advantage.
• Highly autonomous, proactive, and comfortable collaborating in a team environment.
