Associate Data Scientist

About the role

As an Associate Data Scientist at VF Corporation, you will focus on demand forecasting for our fashion and retail business, anticipating what consumers will buy, where and when across brands, channels and markets, including products and stores with little or no sales history.

Key responsibilities

• Build forecasting models at product, size, store, channel and market level across Wholesale and Direct‑to‑Consumer, supporting buying, allocation, replenishment and planning.
• Contribute to cold‑start forecasting for new products, collections, stores and markets with no sales history.
• Benchmark and productionize zero‑shot and foundation models for time series against classical and machine‑learning baselines.
• Collaborate with AI, Generative AI, Data Engineers, DevOps, Product, Planning and Merchandising to drive adoption and monitor deployed models.

Required profile

• Associate‑level position working within an established forecasting team with a senior data scientist mentor.
• Bachelor’s degree (Master’s a plus) in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering or related field, with 1‑2 years of data‑science and forecasting experience.
• Experience in fashion, apparel or retail, especially demand planning, merchandising or supply‑chain, is a strong plus.

Required skills

• Python with pandas, NumPy, scikit‑learn, PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Time‑series libraries: statsmodels, StatsForecast, NeuralForecast; statistical methods (ARIMA, ETS, Croston) and ML/DL approaches (Gradient Boosting, DeepAR, N‑BEATS, N‑HiTS).
• SQL for large‑scale structured data.
• Databricks Lakehouse Platform: PySpark, Delta Lake, notebooks, Workflows, MLflow, Unity Catalog.
• Version control (Git), CI/CD (Azure DevOps), and rapid prototyping tools (Streamlit, Databricks Apps).
