Associate Director, External Communications & Engagement

About the role

This high‑visibility position leads external communications for International Operations, shaping how the organization is perceived across media, stakeholders, and the public. You will craft and deliver compelling narratives that highlight our brands, science, and purpose.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute external communications strategy across earned and owned channels, including media relations, digital/social, and storytelling.
• Own end‑to‑end communications plans for key congresses, industry events, and disease‑awareness moments.
• Create consumer‑resonant content and narratives that differentiate brands and drive behavior change.
• Support disease‑awareness campaigns, especially in obesity, to challenge stigma and misinformation.
• Build and manage relationships with external stakeholders and collaborate with country affiliates to localise global messages.
• Partner with Medical Affairs, Commercial, Regulatory, and Legal to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Monitor media and stakeholder landscapes, identifying opportunities and emerging issues.
• Align external and internal communications, working closely with the internal communications lead.
• Contribute to communications capability building across International Operations.

Required profile

• Seasoned communications professional with a strong external focus.
• Creative energy, strong instincts, and confidence in relationship‑building and storytelling.
• Proven experience leading media relations, stakeholder engagement, and digital/social initiatives.
• Experience delivering disease‑awareness campaigns, preferably in obesity.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally with medical, commercial, regulatory, and legal teams.
