Backend Software Engineer

About the role

Adaptyv is building an automated laboratory platform that lets AI agents run biology experiments. As a Backend Software Engineer you will create the software infrastructure that makes the lab programmable, turning complex molecular biology workflows into reliable, scalable code.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement production‑grade backend services that orchestrate laboratory instruments and robotics.
• Build and maintain data pipelines for large‑scale protein characterization and other experimental data.
• Develop APIs that enable seamless integration of hardware, scheduling systems, and software components.
• Collaborate closely with scientists and automation engineers to translate experimental protocols into software specifications.
• Ensure high reliability, observability, and maintainability of all backend systems.

Required profile

• Strong experience designing and building production backend systems.
• Hands‑on experience with data pipelines and processing heterogeneous instrument data.
• Comfortable with API design and systems integration, especially hardware‑software communication.
• Genuine interest in biology and AI‑driven wet‑lab experimentation.
• High‑autonomy, founder‑mindset and pragmatic problem‑solving approach.
