Brake System Engineer – Service Engineering

About the role

Alstom is looking for a full‑time Brake System Engineer – Service Engineering to join its team in Villeneuve or Zurich, Switzerland. You will apply your Design For Quality (DFQ) expertise to ensure braking systems meet the highest safety, reliability and performance standards across modernization and service projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead DFQ lifecycle activities for braking systems, from requirements capture to validation.
• Define and execute validation and test strategies, including lab, static and dynamic tests.
• Support on‑site commissioning, troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis for in‑service fleets.
• Contribute to technical offers, bid and tender phases by designing brake system solutions that meet customer requirements.
• Manage interfaces with TCMS, bogies, traction and safety subsystems.
• Drive continuous improvement actions to optimise performance and reliability.

Required profile

• Engineering degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Railway Engineering.
• Proven experience in brake systems engineering or related railway subsystems.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a multi‑disciplinary, international environment.
• Fluency in English; proficiency in French and/or German is required.

• Design For Quality (DFQ) processes.
• Railway braking systems – pneumatic, electro‑pneumatic and dynamic.
• Knowledge of EN, UIC and safety regulations.
• System design, validation and commissioning.
• Test strategy development and execution.
