Business Risk Manager

About the role

The Business Risk Manager identifies, assesses and mitigates enterprise-wide risks across business lines and support functions at Julius Baer. Working closely with senior stakeholders, the role ensures risks are understood, monitored and managed in line with the bank's risk appetite, regulatory obligations and strategic objectives, while promoting a proactive risk culture.

Key responsibilities

• Support the setup, operation and maintenance of a consistent Business Risk Management framework in coordination with the CRO functions, covering front-related risk governance, policy standards, training and reporting
• Provide risk input to business initiatives and cases, identify risks, challenge processes, systems and people, propose mitigations and make significant risks transparent to management
• Support the Head BRM on thematic and business-specific risk reviews and contribute to management reporting
• Take part in Market Management Committees on risk topics, highlight misconduct to Front Management and support supervisory, internal and external audits
• Ensure information flows between the first and second lines of defence and resolve front-related audit issues raised by regulators, external auditors and GIA
• Manage incidents, remediation projects and interim risk mitigating measures, and support risk training and awareness campaigns

Required profile

• University degree or equivalent in Banking and/or Finance
• Fluent Japanese
• More than 7 years of relevant experience in the financial industry, preferably in Private Banking
• Sound understanding of risk management in a banking environment; prior experience in a risk, compliance or internal audit function is highly regarded
• Integrity, independence, attention to detail, proactivity and ability to work under pressure

Required skills

• Proficiency in risk management frameworks and methodologies
• Knowledge of compliance frameworks and regulatory expectations in banking is a strong asset
• Statistical, analytical and practical implementation skills, and strong stakeholder engagement
