Business Unit Controller – Manufacturing

About the role

The Business Unit Controller will oversee all financial activities for a manufacturing business unit within VAT Group, ensuring accurate reporting, budget management and strategic financial support. Acting as a trusted partner to unit leadership, the role drives financial sustainability and value creation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage the annual budget for the business unit.
• Monitor budget adherence and recommend adjustments as needed.
• Support forecasting activities aligned with corporate financial goals.
• Prepare periodic financial reports, including variance analysis (budget vs. actual).
• Analyse key performance indicators, identify trends, risks and opportunities.
• Track and control operational costs and ensure compliance with cost allocation methodologies.
• Support investment evaluations, business cases and strategic project feasibility.
• Drive process improvements and ensure data quality across financial systems.

Required profile

• A degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Controlling or a related field.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in controlling within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Hands‑on mentality with the ability to take initiative and responsibility.
• Proven ability to influence and collaborate with cross‑functional stakeholders.

Required skills

• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics ERP system (advantageous).
• Proficiency with BI tools such as Power BI.
• Familiarity with standard costing methodologies.
