Buyer – Procurement for Cable Manufacturing

About the role

As a Buyer in a leading Swiss cable company, you will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating and procuring raw materials, components and finished goods required for high‑, medium‑ and low‑voltage cable production. You will ensure that purchases meet quality standards, are cost‑effective and delivered on time to support production schedules and customer demands.

Key responsibilities

• Manage operational procurement and supply of an assigned raw‑materials portfolio, ensuring continuity, cost optimisation and procedural compliance.
• Handle the end‑to‑end purchasing process: demand analysis, issuance of purchase orders and follow‑up activities.
• Serve as the primary operational contact for assigned suppliers, monitoring delivery times, quality and stock levels.
• Evaluate suppliers, conduct price negotiations and verify order confirmations and delivery documents.
• Perform invoice checks and support audits and internal controls.

Required profile

• Technical or business management education with a solid technical understanding.
• Minimum three years of procurement experience, preferably in industrial manufacturing.
• Knowledge of the cable industry and its procurement market is an advantage.
• Strong analytical skills for price evaluation and comparison.
• Excellent communication skills in German and English; additional languages such as Italian are a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Dynamics 365 (ERP system).
• Advanced knowledge of MS Office applications.
