Category Buyer – Construction Services (Pharma)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Category Buyer to lead procurement activities for Construction Services within capital investment projects for an international pharmaceutical client. The role combines strategic sourcing, supplier management, and risk mitigation to support business growth and operational excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Run RFx and vendor selection processes during project execution and early phases.
• Identify short‑ and long‑term business needs by collaborating with engineering and project teams.
• Develop and implement a category strategy that aligns supply‑market capabilities with company objectives.
• Lead cost‑reduction initiatives and negotiate Construction Services and Framework Agreements.
• Manage supplier relationships, performance scorecards, and compliance metrics.
• Provide change‑management support to improve spending behaviour and productivity.
• Develop supply‑risk management strategies and mitigation plans.
• Coordinate with Project Procurement colleagues to translate category strategies into execution plans.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree; strong technical understanding of civil engineering and construction.
• Preferred: Civil Engineering degree and a Master’s in Business Management.
• 10+ years of procurement experience, including at least 5 years in category management.
• Experience in a regulated industry such as pharmaceuticals, food, or cosmetics is preferred.
• Proven track record of developing and implementing procurement strategies.
