Chief, Preparedness and Humanitarian Response Division

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a senior leader to head its Preparedness and Humanitarian Response Division. Reporting to the Director of the Department for Humanitarian Response and Recovery and directly supervised by the Deputy Director, the Chief will drive the global implementation of IOM’s preparedness and response portfolio in line with the 2024‑2028 Strategic Plan.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the division’s activities to anticipate, prepare for, and respond to crises worldwide.
• Coordinate and integrate IOM’s capacities across programmes to ensure a coherent, whole‑of‑organization approach.
• Oversee the development and execution of preparedness strategies, emergency response plans, and operational guidelines.
• Collaborate with UN agencies, governments, NGOs, and other partners to align humanitarian actions with migration objectives.
• Monitor performance, ensure timely delivery of interventions, and report on outcomes to senior leadership.

Required profile

• Extensive senior‑level experience in humanitarian response, disaster preparedness, or migration‑related programmes.
• Proven ability to lead large, multi‑disciplinary teams in complex, multi‑stakeholder environments.
• Strong understanding of UN systems, international humanitarian standards, and migration policy.
• Demonstrated track record of strategic planning and operational execution at a global scale.
