Control Strategy Developer

About the role

As a Control Strategy Developer you will design and optimise advanced Model‑Based Design (MBD) control strategies for next‑generation vehicle thermal management systems, collaborating closely with system, software and validation engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Develop MATLAB/Simulink models and algorithms for vehicle thermal management, including compressor capacity modulation, coolant pump and valve control, and mode‑switching logic.
• Define and implement charging strategies for electric vehicles and integrate control algorithms with vehicle embedded software via CAN communication.
• Validate designs using Model‑in‑the‑Loop (MIL), Software‑in‑the‑Loop (SIL) and Hardware‑in‑the‑Loop (HIL) environments.
• Collaborate with test engineers for SIL/HIL validation, support test‑bench, wind‑tunnel and field testing, and evaluate AI/ML approaches for intelligent thermal management.

Required profile

• Master's degree in Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 5‑7 years of experience in automotive control systems, specifically thermal management, preferably within an OEM or Tier‑1 environment.
• Proven delivery of control strategies on at least two major EV thermal‑management projects.
• Fluent English; German or French is a strong advantage.

Required skills

• MATLAB, Simulink, Stateflow, Model‑Based Design.
• Control theory, adaptive control, optimisation algorithms.
• Automotive thermal systems, refrigerant cycles, HVAC.
• MIL, SIL, HIL validation tools (dSPACE, MicroAutoBox, ETAS, National Instruments).
• Embedded systems knowledge, CAN communication.
• Python and data‑analysis tools; machine‑learning techniques are a plus.
