Data & AI Engineer

About the role

Unit8 is seeking a Data & AI Engineer to join its team in Lausanne or Zurich. You will work closely with engineers and data scientists to deliver data‑driven applications using the latest advances in generative AI, data science, and computational techniques.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement cloud‑based data engineering, ETL pipelines, and machine‑learning solutions for diverse client projects.
• Collaborate with customers to understand challenges, propose solutions, and present results to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Contribute to system engineering at various scales, from proof‑of‑concepts to end‑to‑end data platforms.
• Follow software best practices including CI/CD, version control, and data evolution.
• Work in agile, multi‑functional teams and travel up to 20% of the time to client sites across Europe.

Required profile

• MSc level in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Applied Statistics, Mathematics or equivalent experience.
• Strong software engineering foundation with experience applying ML and statistical methods to business problems.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to explain complex analytical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
• Client‑facing attitude, comfortable presenting and interacting with business and technical audiences.
• Fluent in French and/or German and willing to travel.

Required skills

• Programming in Python, R, Scala or Java.
• Experience with cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Knowledge of data engineering concepts, ETL processes, and machine‑learning pipelines.
