Data & AI Engineer (Lausanne / Zurich)

About the role

Unit8, a Swiss AI and data analytics consulting company founded in 2017, is hiring a Data & AI Engineer for its Engineering department in either Lausanne or Zurich. The workplace is hybrid. You will partner with engineers and data scientists to deliver data-driven applications and solutions, using the latest developments in GenAI, data science and computational techniques.

Key responsibilities

• Depending on the project, work on cloud engineering and infrastructure, data engineering and ETL, as well as machine learning and data science.
• Work with customers to understand their challenges and design and implement solutions.
• Evaluate, compare and present results to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Contribute to systems from small proof-of-concepts to large end-to-end data systems.
• Collaborate with data scientists, software engineers and business stakeholders.
• Use software best practices in continuous integration and delivery, versioning and data evolution.
• Work in multi-functional agile teams to experiment, iterate and deliver new product objectives.

Required profile

• MSc in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Applied Statistics, Mathematics or equivalent work experience.
• Proficient software engineer with experience combining software engineering, machine learning and statistical methods.
• Programming experience in Python, R, Scala or Java.
• Experience with cloud technologies.
• Fluent French and/or German.
• Willingness to travel mainly within Europe, up to 20% of time.
