Data Engineer – Detect & Track Distillation

About the role

Harmattan AI is building autonomous defense systems and needs a Data Engineer to own the data layer that powers its machine‑learning models. You will work from Paris, Lausanne or Zurich, turning raw field logs and public datasets into clean, versioned, training‑ready data.

Key responsibilities

• Ingest, decode, and store raw, unstructured sensor streams (video, audio, telemetry) into efficient formats.
• Temporally and spatially align multiple data streams for multimodal training.
• Curate ingested and public data by parsing, filtering, de‑duplicating and revising.
• Define data collection and labeling requirements and manage the dataset‑construction workflow.
• Build task‑specific datasets in collaboration with acquisition, annotation and product teams.
• Version datasets and maintain lineage to ensure reproducible training runs.
• Store data in training‑ready formats (e.g., columnar or sharded) and manage storage tiering for cost and latency.
• Deliver documented datasets and loading tools to keep model training I/O‑bound.

Required profile

• Degree in a STEM field or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven experience building and maintaining large‑scale pipelines for unstructured data (video, images, sensor streams).
• Hands‑on experience with data ingestion, decoding, storage, curation and versioning.
