Data Engineer (Junior)

About the role

DotWorld is a fast‑growing venture builder and SaaS studio that is building its data department from the ground up. As a Junior Data Engineer you will join the team at its inception, working directly with the Head of Data to expand and optimise the company’s Data Warehouse. Your work will enable reliable reporting on payments, product usage, customer lifetime value and advertising spend.

Key responsibilities

• Onboard to payment and billing APIs, understand the business model and data sources.
• Collaborate with the Head of Data to design ETL/ELT pipeline architecture.
• Gather data needs from payment and product teams and harmonise source data.
• Develop integrations and build clean fact/dimension tables in the warehouse.
• Automate data processing with Python scripts, ensuring pipelines are idempotent and re‑runnable.
• Create clear dashboards for business stakeholders and implement data validation tests.

Required profile

• 0‑2 years of experience (junior level) with hands‑on data projects (personal, academic or internship).
• Strong foundation in SQL and Python and solid data‑engineering fundamentals.
• Enthusiasm for a startup environment where everything is built from scratch.
• Bonus if you have experience with online payment data and APIs.

Required skills

• Data modelling (fact/dimension tables, appropriate granularity)
• Warehouse maintenance (full vs incremental loads, merge/upsert, idempotent pipelines)
• AI coding assistants (Claude Code preferred; Cursor or Copilot acceptable)
• Nice‑to‑have: dbt, Dagster, cloud warehouses such as BigQuery or Snowflake, experience with payment processor data.
