Development Engineer (Optical & Optoelectronic)

About the role

We are looking for a Development Engineer to lead the creation of advanced optical and optoelectronic products. The role combines specification development, project management and close interaction with customers and partners to bring innovations from prototype to series production.

Key responsibilities

• Derive and write precise product specifications from functional requirements and develop detailed functional specifications.
• Plan, coordinate and execute complex development projects across all phases, from prototype through pilot runs to full‑scale production.
• Prepare technical proposals and maintain continuous communication with internal and external customers.
• Identify, select and manage strategic suppliers and development partners for new product solutions.
• Proactively identify project risks, drive innovation and solve undefined technical challenges.
• Contribute to technology road‑mapping and propose continuous product and process improvements.

Required profile

• University degree (Diploma/Master) in engineering, physics, applied optics, photonics, precision engineering, systems engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of hands‑on experience developing sophisticated optical, optoelectronic or micro‑technical products.
• Strong analytical mindset, independent work style and excellent customer orientation.
• Fluent in German and English, both written and spoken.
