DevOps Engineer – Data Management & AI Integration

About the role

We are seeking a passionate DevOps Engineer to join CERN's IT Storage and Data Management group. You will work on cutting‑edge scientific data management technologies, helping to bridge massive datasets with next‑generation AI factories and supercomputers across Europe.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement integrations that enable large datasets to be accessed by European AI factories and supercomputers.
• Build and validate storage federation solutions that allow different data‑management platforms to interoperate securely and efficiently.
• Develop new functionality and contribute code directly to the upstream Rucio open‑source project.
• Participate in the Operations team to maintain the Rucio service infrastructure, troubleshoot incidents, and support users.

Required profile

• Proven experience in software development and integration, especially with Python and scripting.
• Strong background in Linux system administration, configuration, and automation in both bare‑metal and container environments (Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with modern DevOps tools such as Git and continuous‑integration pipelines.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a distributed, open‑source community.
