DevOps/Kubernetes Web Hosting Engineer

About the role

CERN’s IT Platforms Group is looking for a motivated DevOps Engineer to join the Web Hosting team. You will help operate and evolve the Kubernetes‑based hosting platform that supports thousands of scientific websites and applications.

Key responsibilities

• Run, operate and continuously improve CERN’s Web Hosting services built on Kubernetes and OpenShift.
• Integrate CERN identity and networking services via Kubernetes operators.
• Support deployment and configuration tools, and extend services to public‑cloud resources.
• Assist website and application owners with migration from legacy servers to modern container platforms.

Required profile

• Up to two years of professional experience after a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• National of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
• Fluent in written and spoken English; willingness to learn French.

Required skills

• Kubernetes / OpenShift
• Linux system administration
• Bash scripting
• Programming in Go or Python (optional but valued)
• Git version control
• CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation
• Knowledge of cloud‑native security best practices
