Director of Destination Management (Basel)

About the role

The Director of Destination Management will serve as the strategic bridge between the Executive Director and the Destination Management Team, ensuring consistent execution of guest‑centric experiences across Viking's ocean portfolio. Based in Basel, this senior leader will drive alignment across regional operations and support the development of scalable itineraries.

Key responsibilities

• Translate executive vision into actionable plans for the Destination Management Team.
• Lead cross‑regional alignment on destination strategy, standards, and performance metrics.
• Support itinerary planning and destination development initiatives.
• Monitor and optimize destination performance across all ocean itineraries, ensuring consistency in guest experience and vendor compliance.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and cost‑control strategies for destination‑related activities.
• Analyze voyage‑level financials, refund trends, and revenue contributions to identify optimization opportunities.
• Partner with finance and analytics teams to develop dashboards and reporting tools for data‑driven decision‑making.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of experience in destination management, hospitality, or travel operations.
• Proven leadership of multi‑regional teams.
• Strong analytical and communication abilities.
• Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.
• Eligibility to work in Switzerland or a valid work permit.
• Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management or a related field (preferred).
