Director of Sales and Estimating

About the role

The Director of Sales and Estimating leads the company’s sales and estimating teams, overseeing the full front‑end process from opportunity identification through contract award. This senior position drives business development, pricing strategy, and ensures projects are positioned for successful execution.

Key responsibilities

• Lead sales and business development in swine, poultry, dairy, and related agricultural construction markets.
• Develop and maintain client relationships, manage a qualified sales pipeline, and monitor market conditions.
• Coach and develop team members, set performance expectations, and make bid/no‑bid decisions.
• Oversee estimating activities, coordinate subcontractor pricing, and assess project risks.
• Create competitive proposals with accurate scope, pricing, schedule, and risk allowances.
• Manage handoff to operations, ensuring clear understanding of scope, assumptions, and client expectations.
• Evaluate staffing needs, improve processes, and foster a culture of accountability and profitability.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Business, Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years progressive experience in construction sales, estimating, pre‑construction or related roles.
• Experience in agricultural construction markets (swine, poultry, dairy) preferred.
• Proven ability to lead and develop teams and make sound business recommendations.
