Director, Therapeutic Area Biomarker Lead (Neuroscience)

About the role

Join Novartis in Basel as the Director, Therapeutic Area Biomarker Lead for Neuroscience. You will drive biomarker strategy and translate scientific discoveries into clinical impact, working with cross‑functional teams in research, development and data science.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement biomarker strategies for neuroscience programs and disease indications.
• Coordinate biomarker and diagnostic elements across clinical projects in collaboration with research, development, precision medicine and commercial teams.
• Identify project hurdles, propose solutions and establish contingency plans.
• Represent Biomarker Development on biomedical research and development project teams.
• Supervise, train and mentor Biomarker Experts, ensuring administrative and scientific excellence.
• Contribute expert biomarker input to clinical and regulatory documents (protocols, reports, IND/IMPD, NDA/BLA) and respond to health authority queries.
• Lead Translational Data Science Committee and analytical clusters, oversee biomarker analyses and integrate findings for project teams.
• Lead biomarker sub‑teams, ensure strategy implementation and prepare summary documentation.
• Maintain and disseminate technical expertise through training, meetings and publications.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in biomarker development and translational research within neuroscience.
• Proven track record of leading cross‑functional teams and mentoring scientific staff.
• Strong understanding of clinical trial design, regulatory requirements and health authority interactions.
• Excellent communication skills to convey complex scientific concepts to diverse stakeholders.
