Director, Therapeutic Area Strategy, Neuroscience

About the role

The Novartis Strategy & Growth Therapeutic Area Strategy team for Neuroscience is looking for a Director to shape and update a holistic TA strategy, provide early‑phase commercial insights, and drive internal pipeline development and external licensing opportunities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop a comprehensive Neuroscience TA strategy that delivers sustainable short‑, mid‑, and long‑term growth.
• Provide commercial insights to R&D project teams, especially for early‑phase programs, leveraging US market experience.
• Analyze reports and publications to extract key messages and build product forecasts.
• Deliver TA‑specific external insights to identify growth opportunities, emerging competitive challenges, and strategic levers.
• Commission and analyze primary research to support strategic decision‑making.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (PhD, MD, MBA) or equivalent experience highly preferred.
• 5‑7 years of pharma or medical‑device industry experience, including R&D and/or commercial functions.
• In‑depth knowledge of Neuroscience therapeutic area and ability to acquire expertise rapidly.
• Recent US in‑market experience (post‑2015) with familiarity of the US healthcare system.
• Proven track record evaluating new product opportunities through M&A, BD&L, and internal research.
