Economist Consultant – Green Economy and Sustainable Finance

About the role

The Economist Consultant will support UNEP’s Green Economy and Sustainable Finance portfolio, delivering analytical frameworks and macro‑economic assessments for country‑level programmes and global flagship products.

Key responsibilities

• Validate analytical frameworks and technical outputs for PAGE assignments in Morocco, Kazakhstan and Indonesia, covering climate risk, blue‑bond and circular‑economy reforms.
• Contribute to the peer‑reviewed update of the CFMCA Flagship Guide, ensuring a Ministry‑of‑Finance‑centric approach.
• Develop and validate a macro‑economic modelling framework and gender‑and‑social‑inclusion guidance tools for the NZNPA Integrated Programme.
• Produce a macro‑economic assessment of environmental investments in Saudi Arabia and present findings to national counterparts and UNEP leadership.

Required profile

• Economist with experience in green economy, sustainable finance and climate‑related policy analysis.
• Proven ability to work on multi‑country assignments and deliver peer‑reviewed technical outputs.
• Familiarity with macro‑economic modelling, gender and social inclusion considerations, and fiscal policy reforms.
